Summer Reading kicked off on June 3rd at the Main Branch of Clark County Public Library with The Boonshoft Museum of Discovery presenting a Grossology program for families with children ages 12 and under. The library will continue to have programs relating to the science themes of Fizz, Boom, Read for younger children and Spark a Reaction for teens though the end of July. The Main library at 201 S. Fountain Avenue has children’s Summer Reading programs on Tuesdays at 2pm in the Gaier Room with a repeat performance on Thursdays at 11am. The last program will be on Tuesday, July 29th at 2pm with chemist, Lou Rebrovic, from Emerson Climate Technologies in Sidney, coming to do some exciting demonstrations for the children. The remaining teen summer reading programs will be held on July 3rd, 10th and 31st all at 3pm in the Lenski Children’s Center Program Room. In addition to summer reading programs, the Main Branch still has regular monthly children and teen programs. These include The Bow Wow Book Brigade on the third Wednesday of each month at 4pm. Children ages 5 and up can gain confidence and improve their reading skills by reading to a therapy dog from Best Friends Assisted Pet Therapy. The LEGO Club is for grades K-6 and meets the second Thursday of each month at 6pm. Teens can enjoy gaming at 6pm on the third Thursday of the month as well as Animanga Club on the fourth Thursday of each month also at 6pm. There are many wonderful programs at the Park, Village, Enon and Houston Branches as well. The bookmobile also makes multiple stops throughout the county.
September will bring the return of Make and Take Crafts for ages 5 and up on the third Monday of each month at 3:30 at the Main Branch. Storytimes will also begin again and run through November before starting up again in January. The programs will be held in the Lenski Children’s Center Program Room on Tuesday mornings.
